Moreton Bay Professionals

Community Charter

Purpose of this document

This Charter establishes the foundational principles, governance structure, membership standards and operating framework of Moreton Bay Professionals (MBP). It is the governing document of the community and is binding on all members. This document should be read by every member and prospective member.

1. Name and Establishment

1.1  Name
The community is named Moreton Bay Professionals, abbreviated as MBP. The full name should be used in formal communications and this Charter. The abbreviation MBP may be used in day-to-day references.

1.2  Nature
Moreton Bay Professionals is an invite-only professional community. It is not a registered association, incorporated body or company. It operates as an informal community governed by this Charter and by the decisions of its members.

1.3  Establishment
MBP was established in 2025 by Cameron Whinnett, Founder and Financial Strategist of Thryvv.io, in response to a recognised gap in structured, trust-based professional networking for practitioners serving the Moreton Bay region.

1.4  Registered Address
MBP operates from the Moreton Bay region of Queensland, Australia. Administration is managed through Thryvv.io.

1.5  Website and Communications
The official community website is to be confirmed. Primary communications with members will occur via email. Members are responsible for maintaining an active and monitored email address with the network.

2. Purpose and Objectives

2.1  Purpose
The purpose of Moreton Bay Professionals is to build a curated, trust-based community of professionals who serve the Moreton Bay region, enabling them to:
- Develop genuine, lasting professional relationships
- Exchange high-quality referrals that produce real outcomes for clients
- Share knowledge, experience and expertise with peers
- Strengthen the professional ecosystem of the Moreton Bay region
- Support one another in the growth and development of their respective practices

2.2  What MBP Is Not
MBP is not a leads group, a franchise, a registered association or a directory service. It is not defined by any single event format. The community exists independently of the events it organises. MBP is a professional community. Events are one expression of that community.

2.3  Non-Commercial
MBP operates on a cost-recovery basis. Any fees charged to members are intended only to cover the direct costs of running events and maintaining the community. MBP does not operate for profit.

3. Community Values

The following values guide every decision made on behalf of MBP, every interaction between members, and every event or initiative undertaken in the community's name.

Criterion

Standard Required

Quality over quantity

A small room of the right people is worth more than a large room of strangers. MBP grows deliberately. Membership numbers are secondary to membership quality.

Reciprocity

Members give as much as they receive. A referral given is a referral earned. Members are expected to contribute actively to the community, not just to extract value from it.

Client first

Every referral, introduction and recommendation made within the MBP community must serve the best interests of the end client. The measure of whether the network is working is whether clients are better served.

Trust as currency

Reputation is the foundation of this community. Members are expected to behave in a way that protects the trust of their peers. Any action that damages that trust is incompatible with membership.

Local roots

MBP is proud to be a Moreton Bay community. Members are expected to be genuinely invested in the region and the professionals who serve it.

Integrity

Members deal honestly with one another, with their clients and with the community. Integrity is non-negotiable.

4. Membership

4.1  Membership Principle

Membership of MBP is a privilege, not a right. It is earned through invitation, maintained through active participation and can be withdrawn if the standards of this Charter are not upheld. The quality of the MBP community is the collective responsibility of every member.

4.2  Membership Types

  • Full Member: A professional who has been nominated, assessed, approved and formally admitted to the community. Full members are listed in the Member Directory and may attend all events.

  • Invited Guest: A professional invited to attend a single event by a Full Member for the purpose of introduction to the community. Guests are not listed in the Directory and do not hold membership rights. Repeated attendance as a guest without progressing to Full Membership is not permitted.

4.3  Eligibility

To be eligible for nomination as a Full Member, a person must:

  1. Be an active professional practising within or principally serving the Moreton Bay region of Queensland, Australia;

  2. Operate within a recognised profession or business advisory field;

  3. Carry appropriate professional qualifications, licences or registrations for their field where required by law or industry standards;

  4. Have an established professional reputation within their field;

  5. Not be subject to any unresolved disciplinary, regulatory or legal proceedings that would reasonably call their professional standing into question; and

  6. Be willing and able to commit to the obligations of membership set out in clause 5 of this Charter.

4.4  Nomination Process

All nominations for Full Membership must follow this process:

Step 1  |  Nomination

An existing Full Member (the Nominator) submits a nomination on behalf of a candidate. Self-nominations are not accepted. The Nominator must know the candidate personally and professionally and be willing to vouch for their character, competence and suitability for the community.

Step 2  |  Nomination Statement

The Nominator provides a written nomination statement addressing the candidate's professional background, the nature of their relationship with the candidate, and why they believe the candidate would add value to and uphold the standards of the MBP community.

Step 3  |  Assessment

The Convener reviews the nomination against the Member Qualification Criteria (clause 4.5). The Convener may seek additional information from the Nominator or contact the candidate directly as part of this process.

Step 4  |  Notification to Existing Members

Before a nomination is confirmed, existing Full Members are notified and given a period of seven (7) days to raise any concerns about the candidate's suitability. Any concerns are addressed by the Convener confidentially.

Step 5  |  Approval

On completion of the assessment and member notification period, the Convener confirms approval or declines the nomination. Decisions are final. No reasons need be provided for a declined nomination.

Step 6  |  Admission

An approved candidate is formally admitted as a Full Member upon receiving written confirmation from the Convener and signing or acknowledging acceptance of this Charter. Membership is effective from the date of that acknowledgement.

4.5  Member Qualification Criteria

The following criteria are used to assess whether a nominee is appropriate for Full Membership. All criteria must be satisfied. Where a criterion cannot be verified, the Convener will weigh the balance of available information and may request supporting documentation from the Nominator.

Criterion

Standard Required

Professional standing

The nominee holds a recognised professional role, qualification or registration in their field. For licensed professions (financial advice, legal practice, mortgage broking, accounting etc.), current licensing must be confirmed. For unlicensed fields, evidence of genuine professional practice is required.

Reputation

The nominee has a good professional reputation within their field. The Nominator must be able to speak to this directly. Publicly available information (LinkedIn, firm website, professional registers) will be considered. Any known reputation concerns are grounds for deferral or decline.

Client-centred practice

The nominee demonstrably prioritises their clients' interests. This may be evidenced through the nature of their work, feedback from mutual connections, or the Nominator's direct experience of how the nominee approaches client relationships.

Genuine regional presence

The nominee either operates primarily in the Moreton Bay region or has a material number of clients in the region. Professionals based outside the region may be considered where they can demonstrate ongoing and substantive engagement with the Moreton Bay market.

Referral compatibility

The nominee's professional services complement the existing membership. MBP seeks a diverse and complementary mix of professions. The Convener may limit nominations in fields already well represented, in order to maintain that balance.

Character and values alignment

The nominee's character and conduct are consistent with the values of MBP set out in clause 3. The Nominator must be confident that the nominee will act with integrity, contribute generously and behave in a way that protects the trust of the community.

No disqualifying circumstances

The nominee is not subject to any unresolved disciplinary, regulatory, criminal or civil proceedings that would reasonably call their suitability for membership into question. The Nominator is responsible for disclosing any known circumstances of this kind.

Availability to participate

The nominee is able and willing to attend events with reasonable regularity and to engage with the community in good faith. A nominee who is unable to commit meaningful time to the network is unlikely to contribute to or benefit from membership.

4.6  Professional Fields

MBP welcomes professionals from any field that meaningfully serves business owners, families or individuals in the Moreton Bay region. The following fields are illustrative, not exhaustive:

  • Accounting and taxation

  • Bookkeeping and financial administration

  • Legal practice (commercial, property, employment, family and related fields)

  • Finance and mortgage broking

  • Financial planning and wealth management

  • Insurance broking and risk advisory

  • Business consulting and strategic advisory

  • Director advocacy and governance advisory

  • Real estate and property advisory

  • Human resources and employment advisory

  • Technology and digital advisory to business

  • Any other field where the nominee demonstrably serves and advocates for clients in the region

The Convener retains discretion to approve or decline nominations from any professional field, including those listed above.

4.7  Limit on Membership Numbers

MBP may at any time set a limit on total membership numbers or on the number of members from any particular profession. Where such a limit exists, approved nominations will be placed on a waitlist and admitted when a position becomes available.

4.8  Membership Fees

MBP may from time to time charge a membership fee or event attendance contribution to recover the costs of operating the community. Any fees will be communicated to members in advance and will be set at cost-recovery levels only. No fee will be charged without reasonable notice.

5. Member Obligations

5.1  Attendance

Full Members are expected to actively participate. Members who are unable to meet this threshold should notify the Convener. Persistent non-attendance without reason may result in a review of membership.

5.2  Conduct

Members must at all times:

  • Treat fellow members, guests and event staff with courtesy and respect

  • Refrain from any hard-sell, unsolicited commercial approach or aggressive promotion at MBP events

  • Maintain the confidentiality of any sensitive information shared by a fellow member in the context of MBP

  • Refrain from canvassing clients or prospective clients of fellow members without their knowledge and consent

  • Act with integrity in all referral relationships originating from MBP

5.3  Referral Standards

When making a referral to a fellow member, members should:

  • Only refer clients they genuinely believe the receiving member can assist

  • Provide the receiving member with sufficient context to serve the client well

  • Follow up with the client to confirm the referral was useful

  • Notify the Convener if a referral relationship breaks down in a way that reflects on the integrity of the community

5.4  Disclosure Obligations

Members must promptly notify the Convener if:

  • They become subject to any disciplinary, regulatory, criminal or civil proceedings that may affect their professional standing

  • They become aware of circumstances that, had they been known, would have prevented their own admission to MBP

  • They become aware of conduct by another member that may be incompatible with this Charter

5.5  Nomination Responsibility

A member who nominates another person for membership takes personal responsibility for the suitability of that nomination. If a member is admitted and subsequently found to have misled the community about their nominee's qualifications or conduct, both the member and nominee may face review.

6. Governance

6.1  The Convener

MBP is governed by a Convener. The Convener is responsible for:

  • Day-to-day administration of the community

  • Assessing and approving membership nominations

  • Setting the agenda for events and community initiatives

  • Managing member communications

  • Enforcing the standards of this Charter

  • Making decisions on membership reviews, suspensions and expulsions

Founding Convener: Cameron Whinnett, Founder and Financial Strategist, Thryvv.io.

6.2  Advisory Group

The Convener may from time to time appoint an advisory group of up to three (3) senior members to assist with governance decisions, particularly in relation to membership assessment and disciplinary matters. Advisory group members serve in an advisory capacity only. Final decisions remain with the Convener.

6.3  Member Voice

Members are encouraged to raise matters, suggestions and concerns directly with the Convener at any time. The Convener commits to taking member input seriously and communicating decisions transparently.

6.4  Succession

If the Convener is unable or unwilling to continue in the role, they will nominate a successor from within the Full Membership. That nomination will be shared with the membership and will take effect unless more than one third of Full Members object within fourteen (14) days. In the event of objection, the Convener will convene a member meeting to resolve the succession.

7. Events and Gatherings

7.1  Event Programme

MBP organises a programme of events for members. The cornerstone of the programme is the monthly member gathering. The Convener may also organise expert sessions, working groups, social events and other community activities.

7.2  Monthly Gathering

The monthly gathering is held once per calendar month on a date and at a venue selected by the Convener. It is the primary forum for members to connect, share professional insights and strengthen relationships. It is informal in format. There is no fixed agenda.

7.3  Guest Attendance

Full Members may bring an invited guest to a monthly gathering or other event with prior notice to the Convener. Guests are not permitted to attend more than two (2) MBP events without progressing through the nomination process. A guest who has attended two events must either be nominated for membership or will not be invited further.

7.4  Event Costs

Event costs are shared between attending members on a cost-recovery basis unless otherwise advised. Members who RSVP and fail to attend without prior notice may be charged for their portion of committed costs.

8. Event Sponsorship

8.1  Sponsorship Principle

MBP welcomes sponsorship of events and community initiatives from members and, in limited circumstances, from external organisations. Sponsorship is a commercial arrangement governed by the principles in this Part. It must at all times be consistent with the values of the community and must not compromise the trust, integrity or independence that MBP represents.

8.2  Eligibility to Sponsor

Sponsorship opportunities are available to the following categories:

  • Member Sponsors: Any Full Member may sponsor an MBP event or series of events. Member sponsorship is the preferred and primary form of sponsorship. It strengthens the community, reduces event costs for other members and gives the sponsoring member appropriate recognition within the group.

  • External Sponsors: Organisations or individuals who are not MBP members may be invited to sponsor events at the discretion of the Convener. External sponsorship is offered only where the sponsor's values, reputation and professional standing are consistent with those of the MBP community. External sponsorship opportunities are not publicly advertised and are offered by invitation only.

8.3  Sponsorship Tiers

The following sponsorship tiers are available. Specific inclusions, pricing and availability will be confirmed by the Convener in advance of each event or series.

Criterion

Standard Required

Presenting Sponsor

The primary sponsor of a single event or quarterly event series. The Presenting Sponsor is named in all event communications, acknowledged verbally at the event, and listed on the MBP website as event sponsor. One Presenting Sponsor per event. Available to members and, by invitation, to external organisations.

Supporting Sponsor

A secondary sponsorship position for a single event. Supporting Sponsors are acknowledged in event communications and at the event. Multiple Supporting Sponsor positions may be available per event. Available to members and, by invitation, to external organisations.

Annual Community Sponsor

A full-year sponsorship of the MBP event programme. The Annual Community Sponsor is recognised across all events for the calendar year, acknowledged on the MBP website, and given the opportunity to address members once per year at a suitable event. Available to Full Members only. One position per calendar year.

In-Kind Sponsor

A sponsor who contributes goods, services or venue access in lieu of a cash contribution. In-Kind Sponsorship is valued at a fair market rate and recognised equivalently to the cash tier it corresponds to. Available to members and external organisations.

8.4  Sponsorship Process

To express interest in sponsoring an MBP event or securing an annual sponsorship position, members or eligible external organisations should contact the Convener directly. The Convener will:

  1. Confirm the availability of the relevant sponsorship tier for the event or period in question;

  2. Provide a sponsorship summary outlining inclusions, acknowledgement arrangements and the relevant contribution amount;

  3. Seek confirmation of the sponsor's agreement to the terms of this Charter as they relate to sponsorship; and

  4. Confirm the sponsorship in writing prior to the event.

8.5  Sponsorship Conduct

Sponsorship of an MBP event does not entitle a sponsor to:

  • Address members without prior agreement and within limits agreed with the Convener

  • Use MBP member contact details for any purpose outside the specific event

  • Use MBP's name or community for any marketing purpose beyond what is expressly agreed

  • Influence the content, agenda or format of events beyond what is expressly agreed

Any sponsor who uses their position in a way that is inconsistent with MBP's values or disrupts the experience of members will have their sponsorship withdrawn without refund and may not be offered future sponsorship opportunities.

8.6  Transparency

Event sponsorship will be disclosed to attending members in advance of each event. Members will always know who has sponsored the event they are attending. Sponsorship arrangements will never be structured in a way that obscures the identity of a sponsor or creates a misleading impression about the nature of that relationship.

8.7  Sponsorship Revenue

Sponsorship revenue is used exclusively to offset the costs of MBP events, reducing or eliminating the cost-sharing contribution otherwise borne by members. Any surplus revenue from sponsorship is carried forward to reduce costs at future events. No sponsorship revenue is distributed to the Convener, Thryvv.io or any member as profit.

9. Membership Review and Discipline

9.1  Grounds for Review

Membership may be reviewed at any time if:

  • A member fails to meet the attendance obligations in clause 5.1

  • A member's conduct is inconsistent with the values in clause 3 or the obligations in clause 5

  • A member becomes subject to disciplinary, regulatory or legal proceedings affecting their professional standing

  • A material change in the member's professional circumstances renders them no longer eligible under clause 4.3

  • The Convener receives a credible complaint about a member from another member or third party

9.2  Review Process

Where the Convener determines that a review is warranted, the following process applies:

  1. The member is notified in writing that their membership is under review and the reason for that review.

  2. The member is given a reasonable opportunity to respond, typically within fourteen (14) days.

  3. The Convener considers the response and any other relevant information.

  4. The Convener may consult the Advisory Group (if appointed) before making a decision.

  5. The Convener notifies the member of the outcome.

9.3  Outcomes

Following a review, the Convener may:

  • Take no further action

  • Issue a formal reminder of Charter obligations

  • Suspend membership for a specified period

  • Require a member to step back from a particular role or activity within MBP

  • Terminate membership

9.4  Termination

A member whose membership is terminated will be removed from the Member Directory immediately and will not be entitled to attend further MBP events. The circumstances of any termination will be handled discreetly by the Convener and will not be disclosed to the broader membership except to the extent necessary.

9.5  Voluntary Resignation

A member may resign from MBP at any time by notifying the Convener in writing. Resignation takes effect immediately upon receipt of that notice. A resigning member may re-apply for membership in the future through the standard nomination process.

10. Confidentiality and Privacy

10.1  Member Information

Member contact details and Directory listings are for use within the MBP community only. Members must not share member information with third parties, publish or distribute member lists, or use member information for unsolicited commercial communications outside the normal conduct of referral relationships.

10.2  Information Shared at Events

Information shared by members in the context of MBP events or community activities is shared in confidence unless the sharing member expressly indicates otherwise. Members must exercise discretion in how they use, reference or relay information shared by peers.

10.3  Privacy

MBP handles member personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and applicable Australian Privacy Principles. Member information is used only for the purpose of administering the community and will not be provided to third parties without consent except as required by law.

11. Amendments to This Charter

11.1  Authority to Amend

This Charter may be amended by the Convener at any time. Material amendments that affect member rights or obligations will be communicated to all Full Members with a minimum of fourteen (14) days' notice before taking effect.

11.2  Member Input

Members are encouraged to suggest amendments to this Charter. Suggestions should be directed to the Convener in writing. The Convener will consider all suggestions in good faith.

11.3  Version Control

Each version of this Charter will be numbered and dated. The current version will be made available to all Full Members at all times. Members are bound by the current version of the Charter from the date it takes effect.

12. Dissolution

MBP may be dissolved at any time by decision of the Convener. In the event of dissolution, members will be given reasonable notice, any committed event costs will be managed as equitably as possible, and the community's records will be handled in accordance with privacy obligations. No member will have any financial claim against MBP, Thryvv.io or the Convener as a result of dissolution.

13. Acceptance of This Charter

Every person admitted as a Full Member of MBP is bound by this Charter from the date of their admission. Continued participation in MBP events and activities constitutes ongoing acceptance of the current version of this Charter.
